Students consistently perform well above average on all achievement and admissions testing. More than 85 percent of Morton High School graduates go on to higher education opportunities.

Our Buildings and Equipment:

With a strong commitment to maintaining physical properties, Morton schools emphasize the upkeep of the buildings and maintenance of the grounds.  The result is above-average facilities that are attractive and inviting to all.  Each building in the district has a computer lab and media center.

Our Staff:

Great teachers make a school district great, and Morton is blessed with some of the best.  Professionalism and commitment to continuing education are qualities sought out and encouraged among the teaching staff in Morton.  The district also maintains strict criteria for both new and veteran teachers.

Morton In-House University (MIU) is the staff training and mentorship program that makes keeping up with the most current and exciting developments in education a snap.  A tuition reimbursement program encourages teachers to continue their education at nearby Illinois State University, and many staff members have earned advanced degrees.

Our Programs:

Morton schools demonstrate the high value the community places on education by spending an average of $9,000 per student each school year on education.  The district has the financial resources to fund programs, pay teachers competitive salaries, maintain properties, and improve textbooks and the curriculum.  In this type of environment, students are assured a quality education where they can thrive and challenge one another to maximize their potential.

Every aspect of the curriculum is renewed and revised every four to five years and updated as needed.  The learning-assessment program states mastery objectives for each subject in the curriculum, and each student is closely monitored as he or she works to achieve those objectives.  A program for gifted students provides enhanced learning opportunities.

One of the district’s strengths is the special-education program.  Its goal is to keep special-needs students in the least restrictive environment possible so that they can maximize their learning by interaction with other students.  Top-notch support services, such as speech and language therapy, are also available.

The district’s comprehensive technology plan addresses the integration of technology with the curriculum.  Rather than keeping technology located in specialized labs, computers come to the classroom.  A technology-education specialist develops lessons around the issue of technology in order to prepare student for life in the 21^st century world.

Every school in the district is linked by fiber optics to Illinois Central College.  This makes each school a satellite classroom.  Students and staff may take classes and interact with an instructor who teaches from another location.
