Morton CUSD 709 is pleased to be the recipient of federal funding through Title I and Title II programming. Title 1 funding is used to support reading and enhance math instruction. Title 1 funds pay for supplemental  staff members, materials, supplies and equipment. The Title 1 plans are in place at Grundy for targeted students and schoolwide at Jefferson. Title II funding this year (14-15) is used to support an overflow classroom teacher at Lincoln Elementary (this funding can vary from year to year depending upon need and enrollment.) The Dana Ashby Memorial Service Award has been established as a way to recognize any employee who works with students with special needs (this is not limited to licensed personnel – it can be an aide, related services personnel (nurse, COTA), or non-certified personnel. This award, will be given annually in memory of Dana Ashby who was the Director of Special Education for Morton School District from 2007 until her unexpected death on December 30, 2015. She held the highest of expectations for all students, and through her professionalism, expertise and leadership, she deeply and positively impacted many lives both in the Morton School District and the community of Morton. Dana’s legacy for the Morton School District, as well as for hundreds of students and families, is one of compassion, understanding, a listening ear, caring, love and respect for all individuals.

MCUSD 709 is honored to announce the 2016 - 2017 recipients of our end of the year awards:
Master Potter Award - Dr. Ben Wellenreiter, Dana Ashby Memorial Service Award - Ms.Denise Fountain, and Potter's Hand Award - Cody Pullium. 

 

The MASTER POTTER EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION AWARD is designed to recognize the teacher who embodies the qualities of high standards, professionalism, and dedication to students.

The POTTER'S HAND  has been established as a way to recognize non-certified staff members who play an essential role in helping to shape, mold and support the students in District 709. The Potter’s Hand Award, considered a high honor in the District, would recognize a staff member whose dedication to their professional role is critical and essential in supporting the overall well being of the students in the Morton School District. This award, given annually, would recognize one non-certified staff member’s exemplary dedication and performance.
